Vision, mission and values

quality is the concept that defines trefinos' way of being

For more than two hundred and fifty years, Trefinos has been manufacturing cork stoppers for the wine sector with a philosophy based on respect for nature and on using advanced technologies to ensure the maximum quality of the product, thus offering a response to the needs of the wineries in the most prestigious oenological regions all over the world.

Our mission is to take the cork from the tree to the bottle with the greatest of respect for all the elements involved in the process: respect for the forest, for the raw material, for the worker who strips the cork from the cork oak, for the tradition and the history, for the product that we manufacture and for the end user.

This concept is complemented by another of the company's maxims: sustainability. Our line of action aims to contribute towards the environmental awareness of society through responsible forest management that guarantees the long-term preservation of forests and the good productivity of cork oaks, as well as the entire social fabric they support.

Our actions are organised around three key concepts which offer added value: the vocation for leadership, seeking the confidence of customers and our commitment to society and the environment.

Commitment

as a leading company in the production of cork stoppers, we must be extremely responsible towards the raw material that nature provides

Our vocation for responsibility towards the environment has led us to include the purchasing of raw materials from FSC® certified forests and those which comply with current legislation as part of our supply strategy.

Only in this way, can we guarantee that the cork that is stripped for manufacturing our products contributes to preserving the ecological, economic and social values of the forest.

We firmly believe that this is the only way to ensure the future of nature and that of our industry.

Three basic principles of sustainable forest management:

1. Persistence of the forest mass:
To ensure its regeneration, so that our grandchildren and their grandchildren can continue enjoying the forests.
2. Multifunctionality:
To make a rational use of all the assets and services that the forest provides.
3. Economic sustainability:
To maximise long-term economic profitability: so that forest production exceeds the investments made in them.

These three principles are usually achieved by applying a rational management plan from the forestry point of view, and with the forestry certification systems that there are in Europe today which ensure compliance with these basic principles.
